  • Claymills Pumping Station Meadow Lane, Stretton Burton-on-Trent DE13 0DA (map)
Claymills exterior.JPG

Claymills Pumping Station used to pump sewage and brewery waste away from Burton-on-Trent. The four giant beam engines once used to do this work date from 1885. Although built about 100 years after James Watt designed and built his steam engines, they are almost exactly the same in design.

At 11am, 1pm and 3pm there will be short talks about James Watt and beam engines. Also on offer are children’s activities and there will be over 20 ancillary engines in steam.

Admission: £6.50 / £5.50, children £3.
